The first trailer has been released for Just Play Dead, a new thriller starring Samuel L. Jackson and Eva Green that was filmed across Gran Canaria.

Directed by Martin Campbell, the film was shot in 2025 at locations including Puerto de Mogán, Sardina del Norte and several streets in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Many of the island’s coastal landscapes and urban areas can be clearly recognised in the trailer, offering viewers a glimpse of Gran Canaria on the big screen.

Jackson plays a wealthy criminal who fakes his death to escape the FBI and attempts to frame his wife’s lover. However, his wife, played by Green, has her own plan to kill him and place the blame on her lover, played by Spanish actor Jason Fernández.

The film is due to be released in the United States at the end of August, although a release date for Spain has not yet been announced.

It is not Jackson’s first film project in Gran Canaria. The actor and producer also visited the island in November 2024 while filming the action movie The Beast.

The latest production provides further international exposure for Gran Canaria, with several well-known locations likely to be familiar to residents and holidaymakers.
