A man tragically lost his life on Sunday after a paragliding accident near Benijo Beach in Tenerife. The incident occurred on the coastal road leading to the beach, located in the island's capital.
CECOES reported that the emergency services received a call at approximately 2:45pm alerting them to the accident. A fast response was initiated, with medical teams and a GES helicopter dispatched to the scene.
Despite the rapid response, paramedics couldn’t do anything for the injured man and could only certify his death. The specifics of the accident and the cause of the fall remain under investigation.
The National Police secured the scene and guarded the victim's body until judicial authorities arrived to allow it be removed for official identification and to go for an autopsy.
The incident highlights the risks associated with extreme sports like paragliding, particularly in rugged coastal areas. Authorities urge enthusiasts to prioritise safety and adhere to all necessary precautions.
