The Emergency Services responded to an urgent alert yesterday (Sunday) to treat a 70-year-old man who had experienced a loss of consciousness and signs of drowning in a hotel pool in the south of Tenerife, as reported by 1-1-2 Canarias.

The incident occurred around 11:00am yesterday morning, and at the initial moment of assistance, the victim displayed severe signs of ‘incomplete drowning’, and once stabilised was transferred by ambulance to the Hospiten Sur Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.

It is reported that the man had suffered a syncope followed by a subsequent incomplete drowning in the hotel pool in Las Americas, and was rescued from the water by a hotel lifeguard prompting an immediate activation of the necessary emergency resources by CECOES.

Although it is known that the man was on holiday and staying at the hotel, his nationality has not been disclosed.
