A violent robbery has left a man injured after three masked men broke into a family’s villa late yesterday morning (Thursday) in Gran Canaria. The incident happened at around 11:30am when the suspects arrived at a terraced house in a stolen van.

The vehicle, a Nissan Vanette, had reportedly been taken earlier in the week from kitesurfers in the Las Terrazas area. Two of the men, wearing balaclavas, climbed over the locked gate and forced their way onto the property in Telde, while a third stayed in the van.

Man Assaulted and Tied Up

Once inside, the intruders attacked the father, punching him twice in the face. He suffered injuries to his cheekbone and nose, as well as a cracked rib. The attackers then tied his hands and feet with cable ties and demanded to know where a supposed safe was located.

The woman in the house was not physically harmed but was threatened with a knife held to her neck. She was later locked in a bedroom, while the injured man was left bleeding in the living room.

False Kidnap Threat

During the robbery, the men falsely claimed they had kidnapped the couple’s son. In reality, he was at work at the time.

Before leaving, the suspects stole cash, car keys, keys to another property, and a luxury watch.

After they fled, the woman managed to raise the alarm, and a passerby was able to take a photo of the suspects as they escaped.

Police Investigation Ongoing

The case is being investigated by the National Police, who are working to identify and locate those responsible.

Early reports suggest the suspects are local men, one of a larger build and two of slimmer build. Police are also looking into whether they could be linked to other recent robberies in the area, which has raised concern among residents in Telde.
