A taxi overturned on the TF-1 motorway heading south through the municipality of Arico earlier today, Monday, causing injuries to several people and major traffic disruptions.
The incident occurred at 12:17pm, prompting an immediate response from the Canary Islands Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
Firefighters were deployed to the scene and secured the overturned vehicle to make sure it was safe, before rescuing one occupant who was trapped inside.
SUC medical personnel treated three people at the scene of the accident. A man suffered a “moderate traumatic head injury” and was transported by ambulance to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria.
A woman with moderate injuries was taken to the Hospital San Juan de Dios, while another man was also transported to the same hospital for medical evaluation.
The accident caused significant congestion on the TF-1 as emergency services worked to assist the injured, clear the vehicle, and clean the roadway.
The Guardia Civil conducted an official report on the incident, while the Tenerife Road Maintenance Service worked to restore normal traffic flow.
Efforts by emergency and maintenance teams were crucial in managing the situation, though delays persisted until the affected stretch of the motorway was fully cleared.
