Three hikers rescued after suffering from heat stroke in Tenerife

A GES helicopter had to rescue three German hikers yesterday (Wednesday) who were suffering from heat stroke whilst hiking in g the Parque Rural de Anaga in Tenerife, as reported by CECOES (the Emergency Services Coordination Centre).

The incident occurred yesterday afternoon on the PR-TF3 trail, which runs from Casas de la Cumbre to Valle Brosque, and a helicopter was needed to airlift them to safety, as it is a particularly difficult place to access by car or ambulance, and took them to the Tenerife North airport.

Once at the airport, ambulances were waiting for them and paramedics confirmed that a 50-year-old man, a 46-year-old woman, and a teenager under 16 years of age, had health problems caused by the heat, for which they were transferred to the La Laguna Health Centre for further treatment.

Public Health are advising against this type of activity during the extreme heat, and encourages people to stay in the shade, avoid physical exercise, and stay hydrated as much as possible.
