Three arrested for raping 48-year-old woman in Tenerife
A 48-year-old woman managed to escape and call for help after being held against her will and sexually assaulted inside a home in the La Salud neighbourhood of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Three men have been arrested in connection with the attack.
Local Police were alerted on Sunday after a passerby found the woman distressed in the street, partially dressed, after escaping the property where she said she had been restrained and assaulted. Officers quickly arrived and took her to a nearby health centre, then transferred her to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria for further care.
According to the victim’s statement, she had met one of the suspects, a 30-year-old man, the night before. Once inside his home, she was confronted by two other men, aged 31 and 47, who allegedly grabbed her, removed her clothing, and prevented her from calling for help. She told police that two of them physically restrained her while she repeatedly refused sexual contact, and that the 30-year-old man then assaulted her.
She eventually managed to escape during a moment of distraction and ran outside, where several people helped her and contacted the authorities.
Police officers later entered the property, identified the three suspects, and secured the remaining items of the victim’s clothing. The case has now been handed over to a specialist National Police unit, and the flat remains under police guard while evidence is collected.
