The Guardia Civil have arrested a man in Vecindario, suspected of breaking into and robbing an apartment in Maspalomas in the south of Gran Canaria while two holidaymakers were asleep in the bedroom.
The swift arrest followed a complaint (denuncia) filed by the couple who reported being robbed while they were asleep, claiming that an iPad and other valuables were taken.
They also told them that the iPad was still turned on, which enabled officers to locate it in Vecindario and trace the exact location. They quickly went to the place that it was showing and found the man at his home with the iPad and the other stolen goods, which were returned to their owners.
After formally identifying the suspect, they found that he already has a criminal record and was one of two people arrested last week following a fight in Sardina del Sur in Santa Lucía de Tirajana, where one person was injured with a stab wound to their upper arm.
He will now be brought before a judge in the next few days to face charges.
