The official trailer for Gerard Butler’s new movie filmed in Tenerife is released

The highly anticipated sequel to Den of Thieves, "Den of Thieves 2: Pantera", starring Gerard Butler, has just released its official trailer, and it’s packed with scenes shot in Tenerife. In June and July of last year, Santa Cruz was transformed into the French city of Marseille for the action-packed film, where fans will surely recognise several local landmarks.

In the movie, which will be released on 10th January 2025, Donnie (O’Shea Jackson Jr.) teams up with the Pantera mafia to pull off the biggest diamond heist in history. Meanwhile, Nick (Gerard Butler), the detective who once hunted Donnie, finds himself broke and disillusioned. He proposes a daring partnership: they team up to execute the ultimate heist together.

Familiar Sights in the Trailer

As the action unfolds, Santa Cruz plays a starring role. You’ll spot familiar locations, such as the diamond centre on Calle del Castillo, where temporary police cars and props caught the attention of locals during filming. Other recognisable spots include Calle Los Campitos and the Tres de Mayo tunnel, featured in intense chase scenes.

Beyond Santa Cruz

While most of the filming took place in Santa Cruz, Gerard Butler, along with O'Shea Jackson Jr. and 50 Cent, also shot scenes in El Tanque, another municipality in Tenerife.

The production spent 11 weeks in Santa Cruz, making it the longest shoot for a major film in the city’s history. The final scene, a thrilling chase, was filmed at Plaza de Weyler, where traffic was halted overnight for several days.

The economic impact of this blockbuster could far surpass the six million euros left by Rambo V, which was filmed in the capital over five weeks. So, get ready to see Santa Cruz shine on the big screen when Den of Thieves 2 hits the big screen in the New Year!
