The Tenerife Cabildo have confirmed that they have completed drafting the project to resurface a section of the TF-28 road, between the towns of Valle San Lorenzo and La Camella in Arona, to make it safer for drivers and other road users.

The TF-28 is also known as the general highway of the South as it was the original road linking the north and south of the island before the TF-1 motorway was opened.

The Minister of Roads, Enrique Arriaga, explained that "this project will improve more than five kilometres of the road, by improving the pavements, new road markings and signs, and of course resurfacing the road itself.

He assured that, "this will not only improve mobility, but also the safety of the 9,000 vehicles that use this road on a daily basis."

Arriaga adds that “since the beginning of the mandate, the Cabildo has been committed to improving the island's roads, and on the TF-28 work has already been carried out in areas such as Candelaria, Arafo and Güímar. With the work on this section in Arona, we will meet a demand that the residents of the south have been demanding for some time”.

For his part, the insular director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, detailed that "2.2 million euros that will be allocated for this project, that will rehabilitate the section between kilometre point 85 and 91.5 with an execution period of 5 months once the project has been awarded”.
