Tenerife will have its first drone show on Saturday

Santiago del Teide is to be the first municipality in Tenerife to stage a drone show on Saturday (July 15th) from 9.45pm, when hundreds of computer-controlled flying devices will take to the skies to be showcased as an alternative to fireworks.

This is the first show of its kind on the island, and the skies above Puerto Santiago will light up for ten minutes as they form different animated shapes without pollution and respecting animals and vulnerable groups (people with TDH, minors, the elderly) who are seriously affected by the effects of fireworks.

This is just the start for the drone shows which will feature at fiestas across the island offering a unique experience to the public.

This type of show has already taken place in other places in the Canary Islands, although it became famous at major sporting events, including the Olympics and the World Cup in Qatar.

Sky Art, based in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, is the company in charge of these unprecedented 'shows' that are set to take the islands by storm.

As this is an exhibition, it is NOT replacing the fireworks this year which are scheduled to start at 11.30pm.
