The Cabildo de Tenerife has approved the 100% discount for monthly transport passes from January 1st, which include the resident pass, the youth pass, the senior monthly pass, and the monthly pass for people with disabilities.
They also approved the continuation of 50% discount for those tickets that don’t qualify for free use, which are the five-trip voucher and the Cabildo vouchers for retirees, large families and people with disabilities.
The Councillor for Transport, Enrique Arriaga, confirmed in a statement that whoever has any of the free travel cards will automatically access the promotion when renewing their bono.
Those who have not previously had them will also be able to get free travel, but they will have to pay the 5 euro cost of issuing the personalized card, which current holders paid them at the time of issue.
Subsidized users must make a minimum of 15 trips a month to maintain their free status, since after this number they are considered to be frequent travellers, and at the end of each month it will automatically be verified that this requirement has been met, and the 100% bonus will be applied again.
On the other hand, regarding the tickets that until now had a 50% bonus and that will not be eligible for free travel, such as the five-trip bonus and the Cabildo bonuses for retirees, large families, and people with disabilities, the Cabildo-approved the 50% price reduction indefinitely, meaning that the five-trip card will stay at 2.50 euros.
This promotion to support people during the cost of living crisis started on September 1st and was due to finish on December 31st.
