A teenager riding an electric scooter collided with a TITSA bus in Los Cristianos, in the south of Tenerife, after riding dangerously along a main road where these vehicles are not permitted.

The incident happened near El Camisón, near the Arona Courts, and was caught on camera by a passing driver and later shared on social media.

According to reports, a group of young people were using electric scooters to travel along a road that is not authorised for this type of transport. The group had been navigating a roundabout, passing cars and even causing a large truck to stop abruptly.

In the confusion, one of the riders who was trailing behind failed to notice a Titsa bus joining from a nearby lane. Unable to stop in time, the teenager crashed into the side of the green bus and was thrown to the ground. The severity of his injuries has not been confirmed.

Under Spanish law, electric scooters must follow strict regulations. Riders are not allowed on motorways or dual carriageways, and must stick to cycle lanes, urban roads, or areas designated by local councils. Helmets are mandatory for minors, and riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. Offences such as using a mobile phone, wearing headphones, or riding without lights at night can result in fines of up to €200.

Authorities continue to remind the public that e-scooters are not toys, and improper use not only endangers the rider but also other road users as well.
