The Guardia Civil in Puerto Rico (Gran Canaria) have arrested a man in connection with the theft of construction materials worth €13,000, after distinctive tattoos helped investigators link him to three separate crimes.
According to an official press release, the suspect was detained on 30th October and is accused of two counts of robbery with force and one count of theft, following an investigation that tied him to incidents in September and October.
The first theft occurred between 5th and 9th September, when timber, plywood, and a bolt cutter valued at €6,600 were stolen from a construction site.
The second took place on 20th September, when the perimeter fence was cut to gain access, allowing the thieves to take 100 concrete spacers and a camera with a memory card, worth €6,200.
The final incident happened on 24th October, when a solar panel valued at €49 was taken after the culprit scaled a 2.5-metre wall.
CCTV Analysis Proved Key
Officers focused on analysing the site’s security-camera footage. Visible tattoos provided a crucial lead, allowing investigators to identify the suspect, who also matched the build and clothing seen in the recordings. A belt bag, along with the same trousers and footwear, helped confirm it was the same individual involved in all three incidents.
The man, described as a habitual offender in the area with a history of similar crimes, was brought before the courts following his arrest.
