AEMET are forecasting a generally settled but slightly mixed outlook for the Canary Islands today, Thursday, with some cloudy intervals, a gentle rise in daytime temperatures, and light winds across much of the archipelago.

While most areas are expected to stay dry, forecasters have not ruled out the possibility of light, isolated showers in some parts, particularly inland and on east-facing slopes, as we head into the May Bank Holiday period.

Minimum temperatures will remain largely unchanged, while maximums will edge up slightly, especially in mid-altitude areas of Tenerife and the western islands.

Winds will be light overall, with a northeasterly flow early and late in the day, giving way to local sea breezes during the warmer central hours. At sea, variable winds of force 1 to 3 are forecast, with slight seas and a north-westerly swell of between one and two metres.

Island-by-island forecast for Thursday 30th April 2026:

Tenerife
Tenerife will see intervals of cloud, with the possibility of thicker cloud developing inland and towards the east during the middle of the day. There is a low probability of light showers in eastern areas, although rainfall amounts, if any, are expected to be minimal.

Minimum temperatures will remain stable, while maximum temperatures will rise slightly, more noticeably in mid-altitude areas in the north, such as La Orotava and Los Realejos. Coastal resorts are likely to enjoy warm, pleasant conditions.

Winds will be light and mainly from the northeast early and late in the day, with sea breezes during central hours. In the central peaks, including around Mount Teide, moderate westerly winds are forecast.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and high of 24°C.

Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria will experience partly cloudy skies, particularly inland and along the eastern slopes. Cloud cover is expected to increase slightly during the afternoon in central areas and higher ground, where there is a small chance of light showers.

Coastal areas, especially in the south and west, should see longer sunny intervals. Temperatures will remain unchanged or rise slightly, with the warmest conditions likely in sheltered southern resorts. Winds will be light, with a northeasterly influence early and late, and sea breezes developing during the day.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and high of 23°C.

Lanzarote
Lanzarote will see intervals of cloud through the day, with brighter spells at times, especially in the south and west. During the middle of the day, cloud may thicken slightly in eastern areas, including around Arrecife and Costa Teguise, bringing a low probability of light, brief showers. Any rain that does fall is expected to be weak and short-lived.

Temperatures will remain steady, making for comfortable conditions for beachgoers and those exploring inland attractions such as Timanfaya. Winds will be light, mainly from the northeast early in the morning and later in the evening, with gentle sea breezes developing around midday.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and high of 23°C.

Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura can expect a similar pattern, with periods of cloud alternating with sunny spells. The east of the island, including Puerto del Rosario and Caleta de Fuste, has a slight chance of light showers around the central hours of the day, though significant rainfall is not expected.

Temperatures will hold steady, providing pleasant spring conditions across the island. Winds will be light, predominantly northeasterly at the start and end of the day, shifting to local sea breezes during the afternoon.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and high of 22°C.
