TF-1 motorway blocked in south Tenerife as car overturns and catches fire

The TF-1 motorway came to a standstill this morning (Saturday), after a car overturned by the junction for Siam Park and caught fire in the middle of the carriageway, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).

They received a call at 9:26am this morning reporting what had happened, and immediately dispatched the necessary emergency resources to the scene of the accident.

By the time the fire brigade, the Guardia Civil, and ambulances got there, the car was already on fire and huge tailbacks had formed on the northbound carriageway.

Fortunately, all the occupants of the vehicle had managed to get out of the car and no one was seriously injured. Paramedics treated three people at the scene and took a 22-year-old female to hospital for further treatment.

The fire brigade proceeded to extinguish the blaze and secure the vehicle, whilst the Guardia Civil and Highway Services dealt with the traffic.
