Stolen cars found hidden in shipping container at Las Palmas Port
The Guardia Civil has recovered three stolen vehicles concealed inside a shipping container at the Port of La Luz in Las Palmas, during a routine customs inspection. All three were Toyota RAV4s which had been reported stolen in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and were en route to Africa.
The discovery was made on 28th October, when officers from the Fiscal and Border Analysis and Investigation Unit (UDAIFF) conducted a standard inspection aimed at preventing the trafficking of stolen vehicles across Europe.
After reviewing shipping information, agents identified a container arriving from the port of Antwerp (Belgium) as high-risk and requested a physical inspection.
False declaration revealed
Upon opening the container, officers found that the declared contents did not match the actual cargo. Instead, three cars were hidden inside. Verification of their registration plates and chassis numbers confirmed that all three had been stolen in Rotterdam, mainly during September 2025.
The recovered vehicles have an estimated combined value of €150,000.
