Siam Park gets the green light for construction in Gran Canaria

The San Bartolomé de Tirajana Council has unanimously approved the initiation of the drafting and processing procedure for the new Modernisation, Improvement, and Competitiveness Plan (PMM) of El Veril, which will enable the construction of Siam Park in Gran Canaria, following intervention from the Canary Islands Government.

In an official statement, the council outlined that the proposal for drafting and processing the PMM focuses on three main areas of action: the development of a ‘free area’ with the necessary infrastructures as established by the Gran Canaria Insular Plan, improvements in public spaces, and the creation of tourist facilities resulting from the implementation of these infrastructures.

The objectives of the new PMM for El Veril include not only ensuring the feasibility of constructing Siam Park but also undertaking actions aimed at environmental, social, and landscape rehabilitation to enhance the area's appeal to both residents and tourists.

Additionally, the plan seeks to improve the area by diversifying and expanding the complementary tourist offerings, creating jobs, enhancing the entrance image to the tourist hub, ensuring the continuity of the tourist space, improving the road network, and incorporating new types of tourist accommodations and complementary offerings that align with more sustainable tourism models. Another goal is to reclaim marginal spaces to optimise land use.

This ambitious modernisation plan aims to revitalise El Veril, boosting its competitiveness and sustainability while positioning it as a premier tourist destination in Gran Canaria.
