Ryanair flight lands in Gran Canaria from the UK without a single suitcase
A Ryanair flight from the UK landed in Gran Canaria on Friday without a single piece of passenger luggage booked into the hold onboard, sparking outrage among dozens of British holidaymakers.
Flight FR4757, which departed Bristol Airport on Friday afternoon at 3:50pm, was reportedly forced to leave behind all checked baggage due to what the airline described as “time limitations” following a security-related delay.
As a result, passengers arrived in the Canary Islands at 8:00pm only to discover that none of their belongings had made the journey with them, apart from those taken on as cabin luggage.
According to The Sun, approximately 70 suitcases were left behind in Bristol. A group of young travellers, who were flying to the island to celebrate birthdays and graduations, claimed that “only a single pushchair” was loaded onto the plane.
Among those affected was Sophie Payne, a passenger with severe asthma, who was forced to urgently find a pharmacy on arrival after her essential medication failed to arrive with her luggage.
Several holidaymakers took to social media to vent their frustration. One user posted: “Great start to the holiday as Ryanair decided to bring none of the bags from Bristol to Gran Canaria.” Another simply said: “Currently in Gran Canaria with no belongings.”
While some passengers were told their luggage might arrive on Saturday night, by the time the article was published, no updates had been received. Travellers expressed disappointment at the lack of clear communication from the airline, claiming the only available contact method was via the Ryanair mobile app.
Ryanair and Bristol Airport have reportedly been contacted by The Sun for comment, but had not responded at the time of writing.
