The Local Police have detained several illegal street sellers on pavements and walkways in Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas (south Tenerife), selling counterfeit football shirts and handbags among other items.

The operation, carried out by the Local Police of Arona in coordination with the Tourist Police service, focused on strategic locations where a high concentration of illicit commercial activity had been previously detected.

Officers seized a variety of counterfeit goods, including blankets, throws, and handbags, all of which were being sold without the necessary legal permits.

The intervention proceeded without any major incidents and was executed in an orderly manner. The Local Police have confirmed that these types of enforcement actions will continue to be conducted regularly to prevent people ‘setting up shop’ on pavements and walkways.

The authorities said they are committed to maintaining public order, safeguarding the rights of legitimate businesses, and ensuring compliance with local regulations.

This initiative forms part of a broader strategy to reinforce the legal commercial framework in Arona’s busiest areas and to protect both consumers and businesses from the growing issue of counterfeit products.
