Police raid ‘cannabis club’ in Fañabe that is a front for bigger drugs operation

The Guardia Civil have arrested one person and are investigating three others, after raiding a ‘cannabis club’ in Fañabe in the south of Tenerife that is a front for a much larger drug-dealing operation.

During a fiscal inspection carried out together with the Tax Agency in the customs warehouses, the Guardia Civil detected several packages, originating in the South of Tenerife, which contained various quantities of drugs being sent to Barcelona and Ibiza which led to Operation Blond being born to locate and identify the people behind the shipments.

The investigations led officers to an organized group that ran a 'cannabis club', which acted as a cover for the sale of narcotic substances in the Adeje town of Fañabe.

After the appropriate investigations and follow-ups, one of the members of the club was arrested at Tenerife North airport just as he was about to leave the island to fly to Ibiza. In his luggage they found a large sum of money and 204 grams of marijuana in two vacuum-sealed bags.

Following his arrest, warrants were obtained to search the premises of the club and the house of the club's owner, where money, marijuana and hashish were seized.

The detainee was taken to the offices of the Guardia Civil of the Tenerife North Airport, where proceedings were instructed by the Court of Instruction No.4 of La Laguna.
