Police officer hospitalised after hit-and-run in Mogán
A local police officer has been injured in a hit-and-run crash in Mogán, Gran Canaria, after a young driver fled the scene. The suspect was later tracked down and arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to assist an injured person.
The collision happened yesterday morning (Thursday) on the GC-1 motorway near El Salobre. The officer was taken to hospital following the incident.
Emergency services treated the injured officer, who is reported to have suffered a leg injury. He is recovering at San Roque Hospital in Meloneras.
The driver allegedly left the area without offering help. Police later found and arrested him, and he now faces multiple charges.
Authorities remind drivers that failing to assist injured people can carry severe penalties.
