Police hunting man after ‘Jealousy Fuelled’ multiple stabbing in Gran Canaria
Police in Gran Canaria are searching for a man who allegedly stabbed another man in a violent attack because he was “jealous” of him being with his ex-girlfriend.
According to police sources cited by EFE, the suspect, who has already been identified, fled the scene in a vehicle following the assault. He is being sought as the alleged perpetrator of an attempted homicide.
The incident occurred at around 10:40pm in Plaza de Manuel Becerra, a busy area near the Las Palmas port late on Friday night. The 26-year-old victim was reportedly with the attacker’s ex-girlfriend when the confrontation took place. Witnesses alerted emergency services after seeing the man collapse from multiple stab wounds.
Medical teams from the Canary Islands Health Service quickly arrived and provided on-site assistance before transferring the victim to Doctor Negrín University Hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
Police units immediately began an investigation and cordoned off the area while forensic teams collected evidence. Officers from the Canary Islands Police Headquarters confirmed that all indications point to a crime of passion, and they are confident that the suspect’s arrest is imminent.
The authorities have urged anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to contact police immediately.
