Police confirm that body found in a ravine in Callao Salvaje is that of a missing man

Police have confirmed that the lifeless body discovered on the afternoon of Monday 3rd March, in a ravine near Callao Salvaje, in the south of Tenerife, is that of 45-year-old Carlos Andrés, who had been reported missing since 26th February.

His body was found around 7:00pm in a small alley located between a Repsol petrol station and the Callao Sports Hotel on the TF-47 road connecting Armeñime to Los Gigantes.

The Adeje Local Police and the Guardia Civil responded to an alert for the discovery and were dispatched to the locations given, where they guarded the body until a coroner gave permission for it to be removed for official identification and an autopsy.

An investigation was immediately launched to address two critical questions: whether the remains belonged to a person reported missing on the island, and whether the death was accidental.

Following an autopsy at the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) in Santa Cruz, investigators confirmed that there were no signs of violence on the body, which was already in a state of decomposition. The analysis indicated that the death occurred at least five days before the body was discovered.

The investigation concluded that the death was likely accidental. Authorities officially identified the deceased as Carlos Andrés, the subject of a missing person alert issued after his disappearance in late February.
