A 57-year-old man was taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in San Miguel de Abona in the south of Tenerife last night (Tuesday).
The incident happened just before 10:00pm on Avenida José Miguel Galván Bello, one of the main roads in the area linking Las Chafiras to the Golf del Sur. Emergency services were called after reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.
Paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service treated the man at the roadside before transferring him by ambulance to Hospiten Sur University Hospital.
The Guardia Civil also attended the incident and have launched an investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.
The latest incident is not the first serious pedestrian accident reported in the area. In December 2022, two British women were hit after a van mounted the pavement. One of the victims was 50-year-old Michelle Exton, who later died in hospital, while the other suffered serious injuries.
