A Jet2 flight travelling from Tenerife South to East Midlands Airport was forced to make an emergency landing at Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport last night (Friday) due to a medical emergency on board.
Despite immediate assistance, the passenger, a man in his seventies, was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The crew of flight LS676, that had taken off from Tenerife at 7:05pm, alerted air traffic control that a passenger was experiencing severe medical complications, necessitating an urgent diversion to the Santiago airport.
Emergency medical teams from Servizo de Urxencias Sanitarias de Galicia-061 were dispatched to the terminal, where they confirmed the man’s death.
Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the passenger's condition prior to the emergency landing. The incident is being handled according to standard aviation and health protocols.
