A 47-year-old man has been arrested by the Guardia Civil in Tenerife after allegedly stealing a high-end mobile phone belonging to a stewardess as it was landing at the North Airport.
The theft occurred shortly before the plane landed when the flight attendant realised that her phone, which had been stored in her personal bag, was missing. Upon landing, she reported the theft to the police, providing details that could help in locating the device.
Following the report, Guardia Civil officers launched an investigation and traced the phone’s possible location to the municipality of Candelaria. After thorough checks and evidence collection, the agents were able to identify and apprehend the suspect, who was a passenger on the same flight.
During the investigation, the stolen phone was found abandoned in a ravine in Candelaria. The suspect had apparently thrown the device there in an attempt to avoid getting caught.
The detainee has been charged with a serious offence of theft and has been placed under the custody of the Court of Instruction in Güímar, along with the case documentation prepared by the authorities.
