Palm Mar residents protest against nightly noise and street parties

Locals in the Palm Mar residential area of Arona in the south of Tenerife, are complaining over increasing noise disturbances and nightly "botellones" (street drinking parties), claiming that the area is starting to resemble Veronicas, the well-known party hotspot in Playa Las Americas.

These disturbances, which they claim are happening "every night," have left residents feeling "forced" to endure the chaos caused by the opening of a nearby aparthotel bringing more holidaymakers to the resort.

Since the opening of this complex, there has been a sharp rise in reports of issues at nighttime, including street drinking, fights, and accumulated trash, with loud parties lasting until the early hours of the morning.

These developments have brought about a dramatic shift in the neighbourhood, which was originally planned as a residential, non-tourist area according to the local urban planning documents.

The Technical Office of the Arona City Council has confirmed that the aparthotel operates on a plot licensed for collective housing, but local residents believe this shift toward tourism has disrupted their community. Complaints have been ongoing, as locals demand action to restore the peace and residential character of Palm Mar.
