Only in Tenerife: Beachgoer sets up full massage table on the sand
Tenerife’s beaches are no strangers to unusual sights — inflatable flamingos the size of a small boat, impromptu yoga classes, and the occasional sandcastle that looks like it belongs in an art gallery. But the latest scene from the quiet coastal village of La Jaca takes seaside relaxation to another level.
In a video that’s been making the rounds locally, a professional massage table is set up right on the black sand, just metres from the gentle Atlantic waves. One person is stretched out enjoying what appears to be a full treatment, while another works away like they’re in a luxury spa — only with a soundtrack of seagulls instead of soft music.
“This goes beyond showing off and science… madre mía,” muttered the amused cameraman, clearly torn between disbelief and admiration.
La Jaca, a sleepy fishing hamlet in the south of Tenerife with barely 500 residents, is usually known for its calm waters and relaxed pace of life. But it seems even here, wellness trends are getting… creative.
Whether this was a pop-up spa experience or just two friends making the most of their day at the beach, one thing’s certain: it’s not the kind of holiday photo you’ll find in a travel brochure.
