A man has died and two others were injured this afternoon in a car accident on the TF-28 between Arona and San Miguel de Abona, after the car they were driving left the road, leaving a passenger trapped inside the vehicle.
The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) has reported that they received an alert at 4:09pm this afternoon informing of the accident, and dispatched the relevant resources to the area, close to the La Centinela viewing point.
Firefighters were first on the scene and secured the vehicle before freeing one of its occupants who was trapped in the passenger seat of the car.
Paramedics treated the three affected people involved in the accident, all of whom had injuries of varying degrees, but one of them, a 33-year-old man, was taken to hospital in critical condition and died just afterwards from his injuries.
Likewise, a 39-year-old man, who also had a severe hip injury, was taken to Hospiten Sur for treatment, but he is safe from medical complications.
The third, a 32-year-old man was the least affected suffering from mild whiplash without any major complications and was also transferred to Hospiten Sur for routine observation.
The Guardia Civil are investigating the accident confirming that no other vehicles were involved, whilst the Highway Conservation Service carried out cleaning work on the road to resume traffic circulation on the busy highway.
