Two off-duty Guardia Civil officers have detained two men, aged 32 and 35, who had allegedly stolen a wallet containing €300 from a couple of tourists in Playa de Las Americas, in the south of Tenerife.
According to a statement released by the Guardia Civil earlier today, Thursday, the officers acted immediately upon witnessing the theft, managing to recover the stolen money and documents belonging to the victims.
One of the officers involved in the arrest was a member of the Romanian National Police, currently stationed in the south of Tenerife as part of Spain’s Safe Tourism Plan, an initiative by the State Secretariat for Security aimed at enhancing tourist safety.

Following their arrest, the suspects were handed over to the National Police at the main station in Las Americas, as the incident fell under their jurisdiction. They have since been processed and presented before the Investigating Court in Arona for legal proceedings.
