The weather is expected to be “all over the place” over the next week as a DANA will arrive in the Canary Islands from Boxing Day (Monday 26th December) which will bring rain to the Islands that will spread from west to east across the archipelago.

However, for Sunday, Christmas Day, AEMET has activated a yellow weather warning for heavy rains on four of the Canary Islands for "accumulated precipitation of more than 15 litres per square meter of land in 1 hour".

In addition to the rain, the first snow of winter is predicted to fall at a level of 2,200 metres above sea level, which could start on Christmas Day but will be more likely on Boxing Day on the peaks of Mt Teide in Tenerife, and at Los Roques de Los Muchachos in La Palma.
