The Tenerife Cabildo has announced a new special transport service to assist passengers impacted by flight cancellations and diversions at the island’s airports, particularly due to weather-related disruptions.

Under a new agreement with Canary Islands airline Binter, the island’s public bus company, Titsa, will provide dedicated shuttle services between Tenerife North and Tenerife South airports. These services will be activated when adverse conditions, such as fog and low visibility, force flight cancellations or diversions from Tenerife North to the south.

The special shuttle buses, each with a capacity of up to 50 passengers, will be reserved exclusively for affected Binter passengers and airline staff. The route will include a stop at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Interchange, providing a convenient mid-point connection for those travelling between the two airports.

This public-private initiative aims to offer quick and practical solutions during unexpected airport incidents. Both Eulalia García, Tenerife’s regional transport councillor, and Binter’s commercial director, Miguel Ángel Suárez, praised the agreement, calling it an important step toward improving the passenger experience during unforeseen travel disruptions.

While the exact financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, the move has been welcomed as a proactive response to recurring operational challenges at Tenerife North Airport, especially during poor weather conditions.
