Tenerife is set to strengthen its air connections in 2026, with seven airlines launching new routes and increasing flight frequencies to the island from across Europe and North America.
The planned expansion includes additional services from airlines such as Air Canada, Air France, TAP Air Portugal, Iberia Express and Vueling, as Tenerife continues efforts to attract more international and domestic visitors.
Island officials say the new connections will help improve tourism, support the local economy and create jobs. Tenerife’s Vice President and Tourism Councillor, Lope Afonso, described the increase in flights as a sign of confidence in Tenerife as a strong and growing tourist destination.
One of the biggest changes will come from Air Canada, which plans to launch direct routes from Toronto and Montreal to Tenerife South Airport in October. The airline is expected to operate two weekly flights from Toronto and one from Montreal, strengthening links between the Canary Islands and Canada.
Latvian airline airBaltic will also open a seasonal base at Tenerife South for the 2026–2027 winter season. From there, it plans to introduce new routes to Ljubljana in Slovenia, Liège in Belgium, Palanga in Lithuania and Groningen in the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, Air Serbia will connect Belgrade with Tenerife between October and February with two flights a week, helping expand the island’s presence in Eastern European markets.
Several airlines are also increasing existing services. Air France will add more summer flights between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Tenerife South, while TAP Air Portugal will operate four weekly flights from Lisbon.
Within Spain, Binter Canarias plans to expand connections from cities including Vigo, Valencia and Asturias. The airline will also continue winter routes to Valladolid, San Sebastián, Granada, Pamplona and Murcia, while adding new services from Seville and Badajoz.
Iberia Express is expected to increase operations between Madrid and Tenerife to 74 weekly flights in each direction during summer 2026. That would mean up to 11 flights a day serving both Tenerife North and Tenerife South airports.
Vueling will also increase capacity by 7% during the summer season, including more flights from Oviedo and Valencia.
