Missing 13-year-old boy found safe with his mother
A 13-year-old boy who had been missing for two days has been found safe and well in La Orotava, in the north of Tenerife. The boy, named Ione, disappeared on Monday but was located this morning (Wednesday) by officers from the Policía Nacional.
He was found with his mother, confirming police suspicions that he may have been with a family member. The authorities immediately informed the care centre where he lives, and the missing person alert was cancelled.
Ione is currently under the care of the Gobierno de Canarias and has been staying at the Sagrada Familia care home in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. When he didn’t return to the centre on Monday, staff reported him missing and a search was launched.
The case was also shared by SOS Desaparecidos, which is a non-profit group that helps locate missing people by sharing alerts and supporting families during searches. That alert has now been withdrawn after he was safely found.
Authorities have thanked everyone who helped and reassured the public that the boy is safe and well.
