A 27-year-old man from Candelaria (Tenerife) is under investigation by the Guardia Civil for alleged document forgery and theft, following a routine security check of vehicles and documents by officers stationed in Güímar.
The incident occurred in the industrial area of Güímar, where officers stopped a car at the checkpoint. Upon verifying the vehicle's details, the officers discovered that the ITV, Spanish equivalent of MOT had expired, and that the sticker on the windscreen belonged to another car.
Further investigation revealed that the registration number on the sticker matched a rental car and that the sticker had been stolen from it.
The man under investigation is an employee of the car rental company from which the sticker was stolen. This connection led to formal charges being brought against him for document forgery and theft.
The case has been referred to the Court of Güímar, where further legal proceedings will take place.
