Man stopped for speeding in Las Americas with a balaclava and machete in the car

The National Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in Adeje, in the south of Tenerife, after they stopped him for speeding and found a machete, a balaclava, and a bag of money in the car, plus that he had several active arrest warrants for violent robberies and intimidation against him.

They stopped him on Avenida Rafael Puig Lluivna, which is the road through the centre of Las Americas that passes Veronicas, driving a Citroen C5 with three other people in the car, after chasing the vehicle in their patrol car because he was driving dangerously and speeding through the pedestrian area.

After stopping them, the police identified the occupants of the car who were all Moroccans aged between 20 and 23, but only the driver had any convictions against him, as during the identification it was found that he had three active arrest warrants for robberies with violence, so he was arrested.

The other three had no record of anything and could not be related to other criminal acts, so they were not arrested.

However, during a search of the car, officers found a large 60cm long machete, a balaclava, and a large bag of one-euro coins, for which they were intervened for their possible involvement with criminal activities, and were all taken to the National Police station in Playa Las Americas to be charged.
