A man has been remanded in custody after allegedly stabbing another man during a public altercation in Jinámar, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The victim suffered serious chest injuries but is expected to recover.

The incident took place on 17th April, leading to an immediate response from the National Police after an emergency call was received. Officers arrived quickly and began gathering information about what had happened.

A witness reported seeing a man, accompanied by a woman, leaving the area in a hurry while carrying a knife. This information helped guide the initial stages of the investigation.

The victim sustained two stab wounds to the chest and was taken to Hospital Insular in Gran Canaria for urgent treatment. Medical staff say he remains in hospital but is in a stable condition and not believed to be in life-threatening danger.

Police sealed off the area to preserve evidence, with forensic specialists carrying out a detailed examination of the scene. The case was then passed to judicial police officers for further investigation.

Within 24 hours, officers had identified and found the suspect, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Police say both men were known to each other before the attack.

Investigators believe the stabbing followed an argument that escalated in the presence of the victim’s partner. The situation reportedly became increasingly heated before turning violent.

Following his arrest, the suspect was brought before a judge, who ordered his provisional imprisonment while the investigation continues.
