The Guardia Civil in Playa las Americas have reported that they launched a search for a man after he allegedly punched an elderly woman in the face while she was walking along a street in Golf Del Sur in the south of Tenerife, and stole her handbag which contained her purse, credit cards, house keys, and other valuables.
The incident occurred in broad daylight when the victim was surprised by the man who punched her in the face, making her fall to the ground, then took the bag she was carrying and ran away.
When officers became aware of the incident, they immediately began an investigation thanks to information and descriptions of the thief from the victim herself, who was very shaken by the attack, and witnesses.
From this, they were able to identify the man responsible in 48 hours, who was already listed in the police database and was already imprisoned for committing another criminal act very similar to this one, last week.
According to the police report, he has been charged with two robberies with violence (muggings) in different locations, but both were in the south of Tenerife against elderly women.
