A man was seriously injured yesterday after slipping and falling onto rocks below in the sea by the Puertito de Adeje beach in the south of Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
The incident happened just before 1:00pm when lifeguards from Playa del Puertito rescued the man from the water, who had visibly suffered a bad head injury and swallowed a lot of water and had stopped breathing.
While they gave him first aid and performed resuscitation manoeuvres on him, they contacted the emergency services requesting urgent assistance.
Due to the inaccessibility of where they were by the rocks, the man was taken on a stretcher by firemen so that he could be treated by paramedics on the beach, who continued with CPR until they managed to revive him successfully.
Still in a critical condition due to his head injury, the man was taken to Hospiten Sur in Playa de Las Americas for emergency treatment.
