Man caught red-handed by police robbing a bar in Tenerife

A 22-year-old man was caught red-handed attempting to rob a bar in Tenerife in the early hours of Saturday morning, after the Local Police responded to a tip-off from nearby residents.

The incident occurred at around 4:00am in Tacoronte, when concerned neighbours called the police after noticing a suspicious person trying to break into a bar near the Town Hall.

A municipal police patrol quickly arrived at the scene and discovered the suspect inside the premises, where he was allegedly attempting to break open a vending machine to steal cash from inside.

Upon arresting the man, officers identified him as a repeat offender with multiple previous convictions. A background check revealed that he was also wanted by the Guardia Civil in Tacoronte for other criminal activities in the town.

Following his arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Guardia Civil who confirmed his involvement in a string of similar offences. Authorities believe he had been operating in the area for some time, targeting local businesses in late-night break-ins.

After his arrest, the suspect was brought before the Investigating Court on duty in La Laguna and now faces several charges, including burglary and criminal damage. He remains in custody while the court determines the next steps in his case.

The authorities have urged business owners to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately to help curb crime in the community.
