Man arrested in the Canary Islands for attempted murder in broad daylight

A 53-year-old male has been arrested for allegedly attempting to kill another man in a street in broad daylight in the municipality of La Aldea de San Nicolás, Gran Canaria, on Sunday afternoon. The Guardia Civil have reported the arrest that followed a serious altercation in the area known as Cercadillos de Aldea and Calle Barranquillo Hondo.

The police were alerted and dispatched to an incident involving two injured men, where they found one in critical condition with severe injuries, while the other was located approximately two kilometres away, suffering from minor injuries.

Following an investigation, the Guardia Civil arrested the man with minor injuries on suspicion of attempted murder. The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be brought before the Santa María de Guía Court today, Wednesday.

His victim is being treated in hospital for his injuries and is still in critical condition.

The case remains under investigation, and a gag order has been issued concerning the discovery of a body in Tabaiba, which police believe is related to the incident.
