Man arrested in Puerto Rico with marijuana, hashish and cocaine found in hire car
The Local Police in Mogán have arrested a man in Puerto Rico after uncovering a stash of cocaine, marijuana, and hashish hidden inside a hire car in one of the island’s busiest tourist areas. Officers seized three bags of marijuana, two pieces of hashish, and 18 wraps of cocaine during the late-night operation.
The incident happened just before midnight on 31st October on Avenida Tomás Roca Bosch, when three plainclothes officers spotted two men they recognised from previous drug investigations . One was sitting inside a vehicle, and the other standing nearby. The driver’s suspicious behaviour quickly drew attention: he got out of the car through the passenger door and threw the keys several metres away when he realised police were watching.
Officers moved in and detained the pair. While the man outside had no drugs on him, a search of the car revealed the hidden substances near the driver’s door and inside a compartment, along with a rental contract linking the suspect to the vehicle. He was arrested on suspicion of a crime against public health and taken to the police station before being handed over to the Guardia Civil in Puerto Rico.
The car was impounded and later searched again by the Local Police Canine Unit to ensure no more drugs were concealed. Police sources confirmed that the suspect was already known to them from previous drug-related incidents.
