MONDAY WEATHER: Cloudy skies and light showers continue in the Canary Islands
Cloudy conditions are set to continue the Canary Islands today, Monday, with a chance of rain in the north of the islands, particularly during the early hours and later in the evening, according to the latest forecast from AEMET.
As April draws to a close, unsettled weather looks likely to linger across the archipelago over the next few days. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, offering little variation from the weekend. While no severe weather is expected, it’s worth keeping a light jacket handy, especially if you’re heading north or out in the evening.
Winds will be moderate, blowing from the north across Tenerife and Gran Canaria and from the northwest in the eastern islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Southern coastal areas of the more mountainous islands can expect lighter sea breezes.
Sea conditions will be moderately rough, with northerly or north-easterly winds at force 4 to 5, occasionally strengthening to force 6 in south-eastern and western areas. Expect moderate to rough seas, particularly along northern coasts. In the south-west, winds will be lighter and variable, with slight seas. A northerly swell of between 1 and 2 metres is also expected.

Tenerife
Cloudy in the north, with a small chance of light rain overnight and in the morning. Other areas will see clearer skies, though cloud may build in the south, west, and east during the afternoon, especially in mid-altitude areas where a brief shower is possible. Temperatures largely unchanged. Moderate northerly winds and light breezes along southern coasts.
General temperature range: Low of 19°C and high of 25°C.
Gran Canaria
Cloudy in the north, where occasional light rain cannot be ruled out. Elsewhere, generally clearer with some cloud developing in the south during the afternoon. Temperatures stable, though slightly cooler maximums possible in the north. Moderate north-westerly winds and light breezes along southern coasts.
General temperature range: Low of 18°C and high of 23°C.
Lanzarote
Mostly cloudy skies, with a low chance of light rain in the north and west. Some sunny intervals are expected along the east coast during midday. Temperatures steady. Moderate north-westerly winds.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and high of 24°C.
Fuerteventura
Cloudy overall, with a slight chance of light rain in northern and western areas. Brighter spells likely along the east and south coasts during the middle of the day. Temperatures unchanged. Moderate north-westerly winds.
