MONDAY WEATHER: Cloudy skies and light rain forecast in the Canary Islands
Cloudy skies and light, occasional rain are expected across parts of the Canary Islands today, Monday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
The unsettled conditions will mainly affect northern and mid-altitude areas of the islands, while many southern and coastal areas are likely to see clearer spells during the day.
At sea, north-easterly winds of force 4 to 5 are expected, locally reaching force 6 in south-east and north-west areas. Sea conditions will range from moderate to rough, with a northern swell of 1 to 2 metres. Along west-facing coasts, winds will be lighter and more variable.
The lowest temperatures in the archipelago are expected in El Hierro at dawn, although overall temperatures across the islands will change very little.

Tenerife
Cloudy conditions will affect the north and west, while the south-east will remain mostly clear. There is a chance of light rain, mainly in north-east mid-altitude areas. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, although light frost is possible on the central peaks.
Trade winds will be moderate with strong intervals, especially in the south-east and far north-west, where strong gusts may develop during the afternoon.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and a high of 20°C.
Gran Canaria
The north and east will remain mostly cloudy, with a chance of occasional light rain, especially in mid-altitude areas. Elsewhere, skies will be generally clearer. Temperatures will remain stable, with slightly higher night-time temperatures along the coast.
Trade winds will be moderate to strong, particularly on north-west and south-east slopes, where strong gusts may occur later in the day. Sea breezes will dominate along the south-west coast.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and a high of 20°C.
Lanzarote
Mostly cloudy with occasional clearer spells, with a chance of light and scattered showers overnight. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, with minimum temperatures slightly rising. Trade winds will be moderate with locally strong intervals later in the day.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and a high of 19°C.
Fuerteventura
Cloudy intervals, especially in the north of the island. Temperatures will see little change, with slightly higher minimums. The trade winds may become locally strong, particularly during the afternoon and evening.
