After more than a decade without any major new developments in Meloneras, Lopesan Touristiks has officially begun construction on a landmark hotel project in the luxury resort area of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria.
The site, located adjacent to ExpoMeloneras, is now a hive of activity as groundwork gets underway for what will become a luxurious five-star congress hotel.
This ambitious development is the first major hotel to be built in the area since the opening of the Lopesan Baobab Resort in 2009. The project covers a 48,276 square metre plot and will include not only high-end accommodation but also office space, commercial units, and leisure areas.
The centrepiece of the new complex is the hotel itself, designed to host up to 1,200 guests across 533 rooms. Seven of the ten floors will be dedicated to guest rooms and amenities, and the remaining three levels will house administrative offices and commercial spaces aimed at enhancing the area's already thriving tourism infrastructure.
Lopesan is investing €61 million in the project, which received final approval in November 2023 when the local council granted the building licence after confirming full compliance with urban planning regulations.
The development will also include extensive parking facilities, featuring a 508-space underground car park and additional surface-level spaces near the hotel entrance, catering to both guests and visitors to the commercial areas.
The new hotel is expected to further elevate Meloneras as a premier destination for luxury tourism and business events in the Canary Islands, reinforcing Lopesan’s role as a key player in the region’s hospitality sector.
