Large warehouse fire in the south of Tenerife with locals evacuated to safety

The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) have reported a large fire next to the TF-1 motorway in the south of Tenerife, in an industrial warehouse in the area of Parque de La Reina in the municipality of Arona, believed to be a composting plant.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and are currently battling the blaze to try and get it under control, which can be seen for miles around due to the thick smoke being emitted.

At the time of publishing, there was no indication yet as to the cause of the fire, but people in the area are being evacuated as a precautionary measure from other businesses, homes, and a local dog refuge.

The fire has also caused long delays on the TF-1 motorway in the direction of Santa Cruz, and police are asking people to take extreme caution if travelling through the area.
