The Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try a man next week accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in the holiday resort of Costa Teguise in Lanzarote, demanding a 15-year prison sentence with no bail.

According to the prosecution, the events date back to the early morning of April 6th, 2024, when the accused, only identified as A.A.T.G., spent a night partying in a nightclub in the town, where he met the victim and allegedly took advantage of the fact that she was under the influence of alcohol, to sexually assault her.

The Public Prosecutor's Office considers the accused guilty of sexual assault against a minor under sixteen years of age. Therefore, it requests a sentence of fifteen years in prison, with absolute disqualification for the duration of the sentence, and a restraining order prohibiting him from approaching within 500 metres of the victim, her family members, or other persons designated by the judge, her home, workplace, or any other place she may be found, for a period of ten years.

At the same time, the prosecution is requesting that he be placed on probation for ten years after his release from prison and be required to participate in sex education programs. Furthermore, it is requesting that he be barred from exercising parental authority, guardianship, conservatorship, custody, or foster care for ten years and that he be barred from any profession, trade, or activity that involves regular contact with minors for ten years.

Likewise, it requests that the minor be compensated with 20,000 euros as civil liability for the moral damages caused.
