LANZAROTE: Car destroyed by fire on LZ-20 near San Bartolomé
A car was completely burnt out on Saturday afternoon on the LZ-20 road in San Bartolomé, Lanzarote, though fortunately no one was injured, according to the island’s Emergency and Security Consortium.
The alert was raised at 1:00pm via the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES), reporting a vehicle on fire in the middle of the road. When emergency crews arrived, the car was already fully engulfed in flames.
Local Police had closed the road to traffic while firefighters tackled the blaze, first using water and then applying foam to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
The Guardia Civil later secured the scene and took charge of the vehicle until a tow truck arrived.
The incident caused temporary traffic disruptions on the LZ-20, but the road was reopened once the vehicle was removed and the area declared safe.
