King Kong, the world's most iconic ‘movie monster’, arrives in Los Cristianos

Arona Council are launching a new exhibition at the Los Cristianos Cultural Centre on Monday, entitled "90 Years of King Kong" which offers visitors an immersive journey through the history of cinema's most iconic monster, with original posters, unique high-definition replicas, and representative figures from six different King Kong designs over the decades all on display.

The exhibition will feature the chronological screening of four King Kong movies, highlighting the character's evolution and illustrating the progression of cinema and technological advancements in the film industry. These films provide a comprehensive overview of King Kong's enduring legacy and the impact of technological innovations on his portrayal.

The centrepiece of the exhibition is a spectacular 5-metre-tall model, inspired by Peter Jackson's 2005 rendition of King Kong. This impressive sculpture, created by Rolenart, debuted at the recent edition of the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival, and will now grace the entrance foyer of the Los Cristianos Cultural Centre.

“This exhibition offers film enthusiasts a fantastic opportunity to explore 90 years of history,” said Javier Baute, the Culture Councillor. The event promises to be a unique celebration of King Kong's cinematic journey, appealing to both long-time fans and new audiences alike.

This exhibition will be open to the public every day from 8:00am to 9:00pm until June 17th, a must-visit for anyone interested in the cultural and technological evolution of one of cinema's most beloved monsters.
